For the second consecutive year, the state of Quintana Roo will be hosting the Festival de Cultura del Caribe (Caribbean Culture Festival) from November 8 – 19, 2012. This celebration of regional art and traditions is unlike anything the state has seen before! Locals and visitors can experience endless cultural events in each of the state's ten municipalities, with performances, conferences and artwork in areas like Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Isla Mujeres, Holbox, Tulum, Bacalar, Chetumal and many others.

Festival de Cultura del Caribe 

The festival's main goals are to present the multiethnic cultures and traditions found throughout the Caribbean region, create bonds between neighboring countries and strengthen the area's cultural identity. Nearly 3,000 artists and performers will travel to Quintana Roo to participate, visiting from parts of Mexico as well as 15 Caribbean countries. Over 300 activities are scheduled for this 12-day event, with music, dance, cuisine, literature, theater, artwork and conferences.

Festival de Cultura del Caribe 

The theme for this year is "The Ocean of the Arts: Living Mayan Culture", with the country of Panama as the festival's guest of honor. Panama will show off its culture and art across the state of Quintana Roo with activities like folkloric dance, traditional music, reggae, theater, artwork, Panama cuisine, a series of conferences and children's performances.

Festival de Cultura del Caribe 

Other highlighted events include contemporary Caribbean poetry readings, ballet performances, a show by the Quintana Roo Symphonic Orchestra, a Mayan photography contest, an International Handicraft Showcase in the Riviera Maya, a Caribbean Caricaturist Encounter in Cancun and dance groups from countries like Belize, Colombia, Cuba, Puerto Rico and Barbados. If you're on the island of Holbox, don't miss out on the film festival with contributions from Panama, Haiti, Cuba and Mexico.

Festival de Cultura del Caribe 

Kids from across the Caribbean will also take part in the Festival de Cultura del Caribe. With child choirs, orchestras and singers, this festival is sure to be one to remember!
