President Enrique Peña Nieto recently visited the beautiful state of Nayarit to present the National Tourism Policy which aims to create greater exposure for Mexico for the world to know. The President stressed that now is the time to act and build on the tourism capital of the country. He stated that Mexico is ready to upgrade and reposition its tourism industry globally.

National Tourism Policy presented by President of Mexico in Riviera Nayarit
The new National Tourism Policy aims to establish Mexico as a global tourism power and is comprised of four guidelines:

First: Planning and Sectoral Transformation. The National Tourism Policy will be incorporated into the various levels of government, as well as the actions and budgets of federal departments involved in the sector. A Tourism Cabinet will be created and chaired by the President.

Second: Innovation and Competitiveness. Our country must diversify its product range in the future and consolidate existing destinations.

Third: Development and Promotion. The State must assume responsibility in planning; the development and promotion of our tourist destinations should be a proactive agent, and a driver and facilitator of private efforts.

Fourth: Sustainability and Social Benefit. Create instruments to turn tourism in Mexico into a clean industry; an industry that protects and preserves our natural heritage, history, and culture. Programs will be encouraged to make tourism more affordable for Mexicans so that travelling and exploring our country is not a privilege, but an opportunity available to everyone.

These guidelines aim to unveil the potential of the country in terms of tourism. It has been termed as efficient, responsible, and a forward-thinking tourism policy. The President believes that the country can better itself in the tourism sector in many ways and seeks the cooperation from his fellow citizens and responsible officials to make Mexico the number one vacation destination in the world.

Mexicans will be experiencing high speed in terms of travel very soon as a high-speed passenger rail service is on the cards. President Enrique Pena Nieto announced that a service will be launched in between 2015 and 2016 which will have trains plying at speed of up to 110 mph. The high-speed rail system will link Mexico City with Queretaro city. The total distance of 120 miles to the northwest will be covered in two hours.

The entire project is estimated to cost approximately $4.5 billion. Both the federal and state governments will be funding the project. Studies relating to feasibility and cost estimates have already being sketched up for the high-speed rail system. These studies are expected to be completed by early March. Mexico has a network of rail lines that link cargo ports on the Atlantic and Pacific coasts. However the country lacks in tourist trains as passenger service was shut down in the 1990s.

One of the smallest of Mexico’s states, Queretaro is popular for its music, art, handicrafts, Unesco World Heritage sites and arched aqueduct system which were built in the early 1700s. The region is a featured stop on Mexico’s Ruta del Vino or Wine Route.

Once successfully implement, plan is to extend this route to Guadalajara. Among long term plans also includes the one to link the colonial city of Merida with the Riviera Maya. These plans are just on paper for the time being as no timeline has been discussed so far (related news: Cancun-Tulum Corridor to Get Environment Friendly Mode of Transportation).

Infrastructure wise Mexico has been witnessing a boom. From world class hotel chains establishing their brands to improvement in the mode of communication, the country is on a roll. The pro-market government and the newly elected President are doing their best to fetch the glory for the country which it truly deserves.

Mexico is Volkswagen’s stop for its 100th plant and it is indeed great news for the country. The plant is set up in Silao having an annual capacity of 330,000 units. It will specialize in the production of TSI engine and is expected to create new jobs. The German manufacturer is present all across the country starting from Puebla for Jetta, Golf, Beetle and Beetle Convertible production, Querétaro for commercial trucks and San José Chiapa for Audi Q5 starting in 2016.

Volkswagen CEO Believes Mexico Potent to Become World's Top Carmaker

The opening ceremony of the plant saw the company's boss along with Mexico's new president hit the start button of the plant. The gleaming assembly line for engines was revealed as the curtain was lifted. The newly hired VW employees stood around the assembly line waving Mexican flags.

The auto scenery is taking a high leap and multinational car firms have been instrumental in this phenomenon. Currently Mexico is the fourth largest auto exporter in the world. Also with the economy improving and purchasing power on the rise, auto sales have also boosted in the country.

"Mexico is our main product delivery hub for the USA," VW CEO Martin Winterkorn tells CNN. "In this regard Mexico plays a very important role -- specifically for the US market for which we want to produce and sell one million vehicles by 2018."

Its neighbor, the United States is a major market for VW as sales soared in 2012 by 26%. The automobile company is expecting further growth. Commenting on the demand in Europe, Winterkorn said, "We do not expect Germany to sustain a heavy drop in GDP. We expect slight growth and stabilization in the automobile market. What concerns us is Southern Europe. We don't see any growth there, but we are hopeful that there will be light at the end of the tunnel perhaps in 2014/15."

However he is hopeful about China as he mentioned, "We expect an overall market growth of 8% in China. We have invested and will bring new plants online in China. We think that we'll grow."

The company is focusing into growing as one of the biggest carmaker in the world by 2018.

It seems like automakers across the globe have found their favorite manufacturing hub in Mexico. This can be credited to the following reasons:

•    The country’s strategic location
•    Free trade agreements
•    Quality production
•    Convenient logistics
•    Low costs production

Here is a look at what major global automobile manufacturing have in their kitty for future production in the new powerhouse of the auto-making industry.

Toyota, the Japanese multinational automaker plans to source cars from Mazda’s Mexican plant from 2015. Mazda agreed to build a Toyota branded subcompact car at a $500 million plant the company is building in the central state of Guanajuato. The factory will supply Toyota with 50,000 units of the vehicle annually when production begins in mid-2015.

This shows that Mexico is on firm grounds when it comes to quality production and how global agencies are taking note of this feature. According to researcher LMC Automotive, Mexico’s vehicle output will definitely reach the record landmark of 2.86 million units by the closing of the year.

While Nissan adds its third factory in Mexico (Nissan Invests $2 Billion To Build New Plant In Mexico), Honda is building its first large Mexico assembly plant. Ford is already on with its production of midsize sedans. In 2016 the country will get its first luxury vehicle plant by Volkswagen’s Audi.

According to Bloomberg, Mexico with 44 trade agreements makes it convenient and an attractive export platform to ship cars to South America, Asia and Africa as well as the U.S. and Canada. Surprisingly the country has more free-trade agreements than the United States.

Mexico is shedding its image as a source of low-cost labor as the country has started to be recognized for quality work. Investments amounting to $7.8 billion have been already announced in the past 24 months by various automakers. Going by this trend it is estimated that by 2017 Mexico’s light-vehicle production probably will rise 34 percent to 3.83 million.

It is now globally accepted that Mexico will soon emerge as a global leader as industrialization is on the rise. The country is turning all factors into its stride and is all set for a major comeback on the global economic front.

Mexico is no longer the country which was once dismissed by everyone. Instead the improvement in terms of economy has taken everyone by surprise. The steady domestic growth, big ticket investments in Mexico realty market, abundant global liquidity and low returns on fixed-income investments to attract traders to take on risk have boosted the Mexican stock market.

According to an exchange official, the manufacturing unit of Mexico is strengthening which has resulted in narrowing the competitiveness gap with China. The GDP is expected to expand nearly 4% this year, inflation is mostly under control, banks are showing positive signs and relatively cheap real estate, these have kept the macroeconomic of Mexico in order.

Coming Years Are Going To Be Our Best In The Last 20 Years

The days of Mexico being "a boring country and a boring story" in financial circles are over, and market listings are already at a record level so far this year, said José Manuel Allende, head of strategic planning for Bolsa Mexicana de Valores, which operates the exchange. "The feeling now is that the coming years are going to be our best in the last 20 years."

Mexico Real Estate News: Mexico's Development Unfolds Unlimited Economic Potential

As the country retains its status among global investors, the series of initial public offerings and capital is sure to increase. The benchmark IPC stock index holds near record levels. In this year until now it has gained 11%, and is up about 16% in dollar terms.

Manuel Allende added that the sectors which show promise for the next include real estate, financial and infrastructure. There could be rapid growth in the energy-infrastructure subsector if the laws are amended and private investments are allowed in the state-run oil and gas industry.

The new pro-market government with President Enrique Peña Nieto bringing about much needed economic reforms confirms that the Mexico is ready to take the world in its stride economically. There are plenty of opportunities in the country as Audrey Kaplan, head of international equities at Federated Investors Inc. and manager of its $529 million InterContinental Fund informs, "There are at least 25 companies that we've been monitoring for investing in. I think relative to other economies, it is not too bad." The fund she manages has about 11% of its portfolio in Mexico, and Ms. Kaplan has been overweight in the country since the 2009. The overall fund's year-to-date return in U.S. dollars is about 13%. Mexico's close ties to a U.S. economy with moderate growth and low inflation "is positive and supportive of Mexico," she added.

On 21.12.2012 the Long Count will come to an end and will usher a new era in the world. Mexico definitely gets the credit for this phenomenal moment and the country is already drenched in celebrations. However the country has more reasons to celebrate. Even before the advent of a new era according to the Mayan calendar, the country is witnessing a new era in terms of economy and prosperity.

According to analyst Frances Karamouzis, Mexico’s I.T. offshoring industry ranks as #3 in Gartner’s global rankings. The country lags behind only India and the Philippines however it aims to take second place. This isn’t impossible for a country which claims to graduate 130,000 engineers every year, a figure which surpasses even the U.S. The penetration of iPads, social media, and downloadable apps has been immense. Artificial Intelligence technologies are also making their way into manufacturing.

With availability of such resources and the present pool of knowledge, Mexico can turn this trend in their stride. America’s manufacturing plants aren’t ready to take advantage of these technologies which opens the opportunity for Mexico. Mexican services firms can master the new technologies become America’s automaton workshop. Mexico’s growing skilled workforce and its proximity to the U.S. facilitates the idea of setting up automated manufacturing factories across the border. This will result in cost reduction and benefit both the countries.

The end of PRI party’s 12-year exile also seems to signal change for the better. Enrique Pena Nieto in his inauguration speech launched a 13-point directive covering areas such as education, technology, infrastructure, social security, pensions and the opening up of telephony and television markets.

The pro-market government with decisions like revamping of the Mexican state-owned petroleum company Pemex marks a crucial move towards liberalization and development of Mexico. The businesses in Mexico showed double-digit growth this year and this trend will be retained for next year too. The GDP rate of the country shows positive sign of growth which ensure revenue increment. A new President, new policies and growth in the education sector have equipped Mexico to have a stand of its own in the global market scenario. This trend will soon lead the country towards advancement of a new level.
