Social networking Facebook site will start its operations in Mexico by opening an office in the second largest Latin American economy. The office will be headed by CEO Jorge Ruiz Escamilla and a team who will provide advice and support to companies and advertising agencies in Mexico, and Central America, Peru and Venezuela.

As nine out of 10 Internet users in Mexico have an account on Facebook, the country is considered by the company as a strong consumer market and has over 40 million internet users.

Facebook, a social networking service launched in February 2004 has offices in Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain and Sweden.

Facebook has 955 million monthly active users worldwide and 555 million use it every day. Facebook was founded by Mark Zuckerberg with his college roommates and fellow students Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes.
